Kool-Aid Taffy Recipe

This homemade taffy is chewy, fruity, and fun, using Kool-Aid for bright colors and flavors! It’s a great candy-making project for both kids and adults.

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups granulated sugar

¾ cup light corn syrup

½ cup water

1 packet of Kool-Aid (any flavor)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions:

Prepare your work area by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly greasing it with butter or cooking spray.

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Attach a candy thermometer and continue heating without stirring until it reaches 250°F (hard-ball stage).

Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately stir in the Kool-Aid packet, butter, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth and vibrant in color.

Pour the hot taffy onto the prepared baking sheet. Let it cool slightly until it’s safe to handle. Grease your hands with butter and start pulling the taffy, stretching and folding it repeatedly until it becomes lighter in color and firm.

Once the taffy is firm but pliable, roll it into ropes and cut into bite-sized pieces. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.

Wrap each piece in wax paper and twist the ends. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
