Chicken Chow Mein
Ingredients
For the Chow Mein:
β 1 lb chicken breast, boneless & skinless, thinly sliced π
β 3 tbsp oil (vegetable, canola, or sesame for extra flavor!) π’οΈ
β 12 oz chow mein noodles (uncooked) π (or thin egg noodles!)
β 2 cups cabbage, shredded π₯¬
β 1 cup carrots, julienned π₯
β Β½ cup bean sprouts (optional, for crunch! π±)
β 3 green onions, sliced πΏ
β 1 tbsp garlic, minced π§
β 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated (optional, but adds great flavor!)
For the Chow Mein Sauce:
β ΒΌ cup soy sauce (low sodium works best!) π₯’
β 1 tbsp oyster sauce (adds deep umami flavor!) πΏ
β 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (slightly sweet and tangy!)
β 1 tbsp brown sugar (balances out the saltiness!) π―
β 1 tsp sesame oil (adds that classic Asian flavor!) π₯
β Β½ cup chicken broth (or water) π² (helps coat the noodles!)
β 1 tsp cornstarch (thickens the sauce just right!)
Instructions
1οΈβ£ Cook the Chow Mein Noodles
Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
Add the chow mein noodles and cook according to the package instructions.
Drain, rinse with cold water, and toss with a little oil to prevent sticking.
2οΈβ£ Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, chicken broth, and cornstarch.

3οΈβ£ Stir-Fry the Chicken
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large wok or pan over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced chicken and cook for 4β5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and fully cooked.
Remove the chicken and set aside.
4οΈβ£ Stir-Fry the Vegetables
In the same pan, add another 1 tablespoon oil.
Toss in the cabbage, carrots, and bean sprouts, and stir-fry for 2β3 minutes until slightly softened.
Add garlic and ginger, and stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
5οΈβ£ Combine Everything
Add the cooked chicken and noodles back into the pan.
Pour in the chow mein sauce and toss everything together over medium-high heat.
Stir-fry for 2β3 minutes until the sauce coats the noodles beautifully and everything is heated through.
Sprinkle with sliced green onions and remove from heat.

Plate it up hot and garnish with extra green onions or sesame seeds.
